Cristiano Ronaldo has no plans to make a return to Sporting CP this summer, according to his agent Jorge Mendes. So, Ronaldo’s agent rules out a Portugal return for the Juventus striker.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward has been linked with a dramatic return to Sporting, his first club.
Significantly, his mother, Dolores Aveiro, has vowed to persuade him toward a return to his boyhood club.
She spoke to supporters about her son from her balcony as they celebrated Sporting’s first Primeira Liga title since 2002.
From her window, she promised to push him toward a Sporting comeback.
Moreover, Ronaldo himself has previously hinted he would like to end his career back in Portugal, where he began.
Ronaldo’s Agent Rules Out a Portugal Return
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old’s future at Juventus is increasingly uncertain because people are finally understanding his financial drain on the club.
So, there is speculation of a summer move away as Ronaldo begins the final 12 months of his Turin contract.
Some of that speculation, egged on by Ronaldo’s own mother, suggested the forward could return to his boyhood club, Sporting.
Now however, Mendes has moved quickly to quash those claims.
Responding to the rumours, Mendes told Record: “Cristiano is proud of the title won by Sporting, in fact, as he has publicly demonstrated. But at the moment his career plans do not go through Portugal.”
So, it appears even Ronaldo’s mother cannot persuade the forward to return to his homeland and boyhood club just yet.
