Breaking news- Real Madrid captain and defender Sergio Ramos tests positive for COVID-19!
Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-3 in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals for the first leg in England. Indeed, as Real players made quick work of the Liverpool defense, captain Ramos was right there.
He himself could not play the first leg, due to his suffering a calf injury. But he was cheering them on from the stands, empty due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions. As can be seen in the picture though, he struggled to keep his mask up.
But now, just two days before Real’s second leg with Liverpool, Ramos tests positive for COVID-19.
The Liga giants have confirmed the news in an official statement.
The statement reads: “Real Madrid CF announces that our player Sergio Ramos has given a positive result in the last Covid-19 test that has been carried out.”
The Blancos captain will now be compelled to spend the next 10 days in self-isolation, quarantining at home.
So, he may have to miss the second leg of Real Madrid vs Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinals as well. Taking place on April 15th, the second leg is a slim chance for Liverpool to regain their footing, after Real defeated them duplicating last year’s scores.
