PSG vs Man City- Mauricio Pochettino Praises Pep Guardiola

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City will meet for the first time in Champions League after 2016. While City knocked PSG out of the quarterfinals then, they now clash again for the semi-finals at Parc des Princes. This time, before the first leg of PSG vs Man City, Mauricio Pochettino praises Pep Guardiola.

Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel as the PSG head coach only recently. Though new, Pochettino has had instant success with his squad, but is yet to stabilize in his coaching at Paris.

Meanwhile, City head coach Pep Guardiola has seen immense triumph with his club. Most recently, he led them to winning the EFL Cup over Tottenham at Wembley Stadium.

This is also just the second time the two clubs meet since being under Qatari and Emirati ownership respectively.

After propelling themselves to the forefront of European football in the last decade, the two clubs will meet under their current coaches for the very first time.

Before PSG’s first leg at home, Mauricio Pochettino is uninterested in giving comments but does admire rival coach Pep Guardiola.

“Always for me it is about playing against another team, not about personal battles,” Pochettino said on Tuesday.

After refusing to comment, he cannot resist but comment on Pep:

“It is going to be a battle between two very good teams but when you talk about Guardiola, he is one of the best coaches in the world, if not the best.

“I really admire Pep for what he has done in his career, not just the titles but the legacy he is building.”

“I love to be involved in football, trying to learn, trying to compete and win, but for me it is just a game between two big clubs,” he added before the home fixture.
