PSG Fans Vandalized the Lens Team Bus

Ahead of the Paris Saint-Germain-Lens game today, PSG fans vandalized the Lens team bus with PSG-promoting messages and insults.

The PSG vs Lens match is in minutes as we write this report. Neymar and Marquinhos have already scored for PSG.

Neymar scored just after the half hour mark when the game was 33 minutes in.

Later, just before the hour mark Marquinhos doubled PSG’s lead in the 59th minute, only for Ignatius Ganago to score for Lens two minutes later.

The current score for the match being played in Paris at the Parc des Princes is thus 2-1.

With the Lens team playing an away match, the squad arrived in Paris on a team bus.

But this bus, while parked outside of the Paris hotel in which the team were residing, was vandalized.

French police revealed that two people had been arrested on suspicion of their vandalizing the Lens team bus.

The two people, presumably PSG fans, were arrested after the attack, a police source said, without giving further details.

Images on social networks and French media showed the vandalized bus, which has a huge Lens logo.

The vandalizers had smeared it with yellow graffiti saying “PSG”, “Paris SG”, “Ultras Paris”. As the picture clearly shows, they also graffitied other insults to Lens on the bus.

A Lens representative said the bus has been cleaned up, although there are still some traces of the graffiti.

Lens said they would not comment because they “wanted to concentrate on our match” but indicated that they might press charges.

This incident is not an isolated one. An infamous banner displayed by PSG fans at the 2008 French League Cup final between the clubs also went viral:

PSG’s Words

PSG also released a statement on Saturday in support of Lens, and in condemnation of fans’ use of violence.

“Paris Saint-Germain condemns in the strongest possible terms the intolerable acts committed against RC Lens by individuals claiming to be supporters of the club,” PSG said in Saturday’s statement.

“Police investigations are underway. The club reserves the right to take all appropriate sanctions and legal measures if it appears that some of its supporters are associated with these shameful acts,” PSG added.

The club also offered “support and sympathy for RC Lens and its fans”.
