Newcastle United’s Hopes to Bury Over Mike Ashley’s Reign May Fail

Newcastle United’s Hopes to Bury Over Mike Ashley’s Reign May Fail

Newcastle hoped to end the controversial reign of Mike Ashley at the club by setting up new owners in time for the summer transfer window.

The Guardian, however, indicates that United’s takeover attempt may now be blocked, with a decision to be delayed by at least a few weeks.

Amnesty International has also asked the Premier League to consider blocking the takeover because of the poor record of human rights in Saudi Arabia.

The publication argues that the World Trade Organization (WTO) has ruled the Saudi government behind a pirate satellite television and streaming service called beoutQ that provides illegal access to sporting activities.

Next month, the WTO is even supposed to publish a 130-page report indicating that the West Asian country is behind beoutQ, known to display Premier League and La Liga matches via illegal means.
