BREAKING NEWS – Julian Nagelsmann will become Bayern Munich’s new coach in a record deal worth up to €25m.
FC Bayern officially announced appointing Julian Nagelsmann as their new head coach. Nagelsmann will become Bayern Munich’s new coach, in a record deal, on 1 July 2021 ahead of the new season.
The Bundesliga champions are reportedly paying around €25 million (£22m/$30m) as compensation to RB Leipzig to buy their manager.
RB Leipzig broke a record in selling the 33-year-old. €25m for a manager, including bonuses, is the highest transfer fee paid for any manager yet.
The deal breaks another record too- that of the length/duration of the contract.
They have signed the highly-rated coach, who will be replacing the recently-resigned Hansi Flick, on a five-year contract. The contract binds him to the German club until 30 June 2026.
Nagelsmann will succeed Hansi Flick, who last week asked Bayern to terminate his contract at the end of the season.
The several disagreements he had with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic might have led him to sever ties with Bayern.
Meanwhile, Nagelsmann has developed a reputation as one of the best young coaches in Europe.
Rumors also linked with the vacant managerial post at Tottenham. We even cited him as ideal to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho, not only because he’s been nicknamed ‘Baby Mourinho’.
