World Cup top scorer Miroslav Klose has signed a one-year contract with Bayern Munich as assistant coach to Hansi Flick since the beginning of next season, the German champions announced on their official website on Thursday.
“We know each other well from the national team, we trust each other, both professionally and personally. For me, this is the next step in my coaching career”, Klos said for Bild.
Flick was assistant coach to Joachim Loew when Germany won the 2014 World Cup title and Klose reached his record. Klose has also played in his career for Kaiserslautern, Werder and Lazio in Italy.
Klose, who racked up a record 16 goals in the World Cup for Germany (leading to its winning the Cup), has been the coach of the Bayern youth team for the last two years since he retired in 2016.
