Manchester United may just sign Ousmane Dembélé, after all, this summer transfer window.
Man Utd have been tracking Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé for a few months now.
And two of the latest arrivals at the Catalonia club could provide a major boost to United in their pursuit.
The introduction of new competition against Dembélé at Barcelona helps the Red Devils’ race for him, according to The Express.
Barcelona’s New Arrivals
Barcelona are set to revamp their attack during the summer transfer window.
And two star footballers, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and former Reds player Memphis Depay, have just signed with the Catalans.
This could see the exclusion of Dembélé at Camp Nou, after a disappointing end to this season. Indeed, The Express claims that both the winger and Antoine Griezmann may see moves away from the club this summer.
Barca are not interested in bringing any more forwards to the club after striking deals with two already. This leaves Griezmann as potentially available on the open market.
However, his age, price point and United’s embarrassment of riches in the number 10 position may mean that the Red Devils are unlikely to go back in for him this time.
On the other hand, Manchester United can finally sweep in for Dembélé, after tracking him for many summers.
Manchester United May Just Sign Ousmane Dembélé
Dembélé, who is valued at £45m, is the obvious buying option for Man Utd.
He seems to be firmly out of Koeman’s plans after an injury-hit and an inconsistent spell at the Camp Neu.
Indeed, contract extensions have stalled, with just 12 months left on Dembélé’s current deal. And because he is also not a high priority for the manager, Barcelona could well sell him this summer.
All this could provide a major transfer boost for Manchester United.
However, Premier League club Arsenal have also shown interest in Dembélé in the past.
But United can easily attract him to them, because they can offer European football, which Arsenal cannot.
Dembélé seems to be over his injury problems and he is still only 24 years of age. So, his signing could represent an excellent deal for United.
