Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman has praised team striker Lionel Messi.
“I think Messi showed that he is the best,” the coach told Marca, describing Messi’s double and assist in yesterday’s 4-1 La Liga 27th round game against Huesca.
“The first goal was unbelievable. He deserves the important role in this team that he gets,” he continued.
“You can’t say more than that. Messi has shown this level for many years, he has shown it in many matches. He is the most important man in Barca’s history. It’s lucky he’s still with us.”
The Argentine played his 767th match for Barcelona yesterday and matched Xavi’s record for the most games played for the club.
The 33-year-old has played 25 games in La Liga this season, scoring 21 goals and providing seven assists.
