Juventus Beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia Final

Juventus Beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia Final

Though the two teams were even at 1-1 at half time, eventually Juventus beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final.

Visitors Juve won the Italian Cup by a 1-2 win over the hosts.

For Juventus, this is the fourteenth time winning the Italian Cup. The last time the Turin team celebrated a triumph in the Coppa Italia was in 2018.

The First Half

In the 17th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo had the first opportunity to score for Juventus. The Old Lady star was fouled just outside the penalty area.

And when the referee dictated a free kick, the Portuguese decided to take it himself.

However, the ball first hit the wall and later, one of the rivals, stopped it.

In response, the game got dangerous again after Zapata’s strike. But goalkeeper Gigi Buffon, who will leave Juventus at the end of the season, blocked the strike expertly.

Less than a quarter of an hour before the break Andrea Pirlo’s charges took the lead.

Ronaldo fought fruitlessly in the opponents’ penalty area, while Weston McKennie intercepted the ball.

At 31 minutes, McKennie passed to Dejan Kulusevski, and the Swede let loose a beautiful, technical strike without hesitation.

The ball beat the helpless Pierluigi Gollini, hitting the left post.

Twenty minutes before the end of the first half, though, Gian Piero Gasperini’s players attacked again.

After Pessina exchanged passes with Remo Freuler, the latter hit a flat shot which went beyond the Juventus goal mirror.

In the action that followed shortly afterwards, Ruslan Malinovski shot past the post to equalize Atalanta to 1-1. His goal was after a powerful and precise shot

The Second Half

Within the first fifteen minutes after the change of sides, Juventus wasted three phenomenal opportunities to get back into the lead.

The first, after a shot by Kulusevski, was perfectly intervened by Gollini. But the following “header” by Ronaldo landed in the gloves of the Atalanta goalkeeper. Finally, after rapid action, Frederico Chiesa hit the post.

In the 65th minute, CR7 once again struck, but his shot was too light to cause any real danger.

Old Lady carried out a brilliant action just after, in the 73rd minute. Chiesa passed to Kulusevski, who passed back to him. Chiesa then ran impetuously into the penalty area and confidently beat Gollini. So, after three failed attempts, Juventus finally clinched their winning goal.

Rafael Toloi was shown a red card ten minutes later, for unsportsmanlike conduct off the pitch. The Match ended as Juventus beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final.
