In the Bundesliga, a home bout saw Hertha Berlin secure a sweeping 3-0 win over Freiburg.
The First Half
Krzysztof Piątek appeared in the first line-up of the hosts from the first minute.
And it was with good reason- he opened the scoring of the meeting within the first quarter of an hour.
At the 13th minute, the Pole went to score after Jordan Torunarigha’s shot, scooped up the ball.
This confusion in the last moment deceived Freiburg’s defense, shooting the ball into the net.
The lead was increased moments later by Peter Pekarik’s header, in the 22nd minute.
He closed down on a phenomenal soft throw-in by Nemanja Radonjic, who fooled one of Freiburg’s defenders. Then the Serbian passed straight to the head of his teammate.
The Second Half
On the other hand, the visitors did not have many opportunities. The most dangerous was Nicolas Hoefler’s headshot early in the second half.
However, the Hertha goalkeeper showed good reflexes and saved the ball.
A rather entertaining attempt came in the 72nd minute of the skirmish. Matheus Cunha struck from outside the penalty area.
The ball from his shot first hit the post and then the goalkeeper’s head, a bit comically. After this, the ball flew out for a corner kick.
Hertha cinched a dominating win as Nemanja Radonjić scored the last in the 85th minute.
The Serbian showed off with a phenomenal rally across the pitch, which confused several opposing defenders. He then finished with a beautiful shot into the goal.
