Guardiola Rebuked Governing Bodies

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola rebuked governing bodies while explaining the reasons behind the regular squad rotation.

“The players are human beings, not machines. I know some of them are frustrated because they want to play every day, but it is impossible. If you don’t rotate the squad, you can’t take part in every competition, you won’t be in our current position,” the coach told Sky Sports.

Guardiola rebuked governing bodies and defended his players against the overly busy calendar:

“Of course, the players can play, they have an incredible mentality, but they need rest. UEFA and FIFA are killing the players, it’s too much. Since the start of the season we have never had a break in the middle of the week, not once.”

This isn’t the only criticism FIFA face, because others have called FIFA redundant.

“There is no player who can bear it not only physically, but mentally as well. It’s impossible,” Pep added.

“When I rotate the squad [and win] – I am a genius, well done, Pep. When we lose after a rotation, people say: “Why? You should have released the players as usual”. But that’s inconsistent,” he complained.
