Only two days after three team members tested positive for COVID-19, German Koln said they are able to conduct training camps for quarantine.
“The FC Koln would go into a training camp with the squad sooner than expected in the DFL medical definition.” stated a club release.
Since April 6, Koln players have been back practicing at the club’s sports center, taking part in individual workouts. They experienced a loss on Friday when it was revealed that three team members have COVID-19. The Bundesliga group, however, believes they will resume team training ‘in a safe area’ until policymakers allow the initiative to get back on track:
“The precondition is getting politicians to support continuing the season.
“FC Köln may undergo team work under the terms of a training camp, should it be allowed.
It happens as soon as politicians reach a constructive decision to extend the Bundesliga season – earliest in the coming week.”
Koln further comments:
“Thereafter the manager, coaching and backroom personnel would come together in a safe area for team preparation. This type of voluntary quarantine expanded the current definition of infection prevention and hygiene, and seek to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.”
“The measure will / has been taken independently of COVID-19 test outcomes at FC. The DFL’s Task Force Sports Medicine / Extraordinary Matchday Operation framework now calls for all players to go to quarantine-for a week before the restart of the games.
“Nonetheless, FC Koln tend to continue this time at the start of team preparation.”
