Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero have resumed training for Manchester City. So, De Bruyne and Aguero may return for EFL Cup, and could provide a double fitness boost to Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne and Aguero are training, just before Sunday’s EFL Cup that Manchester City will play final against Tottenham Hotspur.
Both City stars thus appear to have better prospects than Harry Kane, who couldn’t take part in Tottenham’s Friday session.
So, De Bruyne and Aguero may return for EFL Cup, which City are eager to win. They are hoping to retain the trophy for the fourth straight season.
Pep Guardiola’s side returns to Wembley eight days after losing 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.
De Bruyne did not play in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
However, he returned to training with Guardiola’s first team alongside Sergio Aguero.
On the other hand, Aguero underwent a meniscus surgery, last June. Ever since, City’s all-time leading goal-scorer has been plagued with knee and hamstring problems. He even battled coronavirus recently.
“Both [De Bruyne and Aguero] they are training today,” Guardiola said on a press conference. “Today was the first training session after the last two weeks [for Aguero]. Tomorrow he will have the last training session and we are going to decide.”
