Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is hoping to help lead his team to a league title when the season is back.
Courtois said he was ready to take La Liga for a possible resumption in mid-June. “We look forward to restarting La Liga and battling to conquer it,” he told Real Madrid TV on Tuesday.
Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, La Liga was postponed in March, despite Barcelona maintaining a two-point advantage over Madrid before the competition was paused.
Clubs in Spain have recently been permitted to return to action, with small group workouts enabled because clubs are eager to get back into shape.
Courtois expects Real Madrid will make up the two-point deficit to overtake Barcelona because they all continued training in isolation for two months.
Courtois said he was pleased to return to training and enjoyed being ready to take shots from team-mates once again:
“After two months, we couldn’t wait to get back in training, being together as a squad, and while it’s a little special, it’s still good to come back to Valdebebas for training.
“Training at home is different, but I think everybody feels well, everybody has done what the coach said and everybody is healthy and very strong.”
