The Chelsea 2021-22 kit is out at last, as the Blues continue their partnership with Nike for their upcoming campaign.
Chelsea and Nike, with this new kit, enter the fifth year of a collaboration that began in the 2017-18 campaign.
Inclusive of both the home and away jerseys, and much more, the Chelsea 2021-22 kit is out!
They launched the new home kit in May, with the away and third kits following later in the summer.
While they were distant from Premier League glory last season under Frank Lampard, this season has been kinder on them.
Under new coach Thomas Tuchel’s guidance, Chelsea have finished fourth in the Premier League.
The Blues have also reached the Champions League final this season and will soon play a showdown against Manchester City.
Qualifying with a marginal one-point lead over Leicester City, Chelsea also will play a part in Champions League next season.
And Chelsea will be keen to look like the winners they are preparing to be next season, home or away.
So, ahead of the new campaign, the Blues have revealed what they will be wearing home and away.
They have also announced the release dates, and hinted toward potential styles.
Dates and Design
Chelsea officially launched their 2021-22 home kit on May 13. And Blues players have already worn this jersey for the first time in the FA Cup final on May 15.
The full retail launch of this home kit followed on May 20.
The Chelsea home kit design is said to have been inspired by 1960s subcultures.
This new home shirt is more vibrant than its predecessor, the fabric carrying a mixture of zig-zag and chequered print.
The 2020-21 home kit was characterised by darker, more solid, blues.
On the other hand, the new home kit brings back the yellow tinges that featured in many 1990s Chelsea kits.
Finally, these new kits are also sustainable. With sports teams across the world going eco-friendly nowadays, Nike too, have manufactured Chelsea’s fabrics using recycled plastic.
The jersey release got its own slick promotional video featuring players from both Chelsea’s men and women teams as models.
Garbed in stylish 60s-influenced attire, and accompanied with a remix of The Zombies’ classic 1960s hit ‘Time of the Season’, the Chelsea squad has rolled out their new home kit suavely:
Besides tweeting pictures of players in the jersey, Chelsea have also released the jerseys for sale on their online store.
Now, the Chelsea 2021-22 away kit has no confirmation on its design. However, leaks online suggest that the colourway will be yellow and black. (Chelsea last had a yellow away kit for the 2018-19 season.)
Further hints point toward a continuation of the zig-zag and chequered 1960s-inspirated pattern for the jersey on the road, too.
This away kit will likely come out in late June or early July.
So, both these fashion-forward (or should we say backward, given the 60s theme?) kits will be ready for wear soon.
You will definitely see your Chelsea stars sport them at the start of the new campaign.
