Boateng Will Remain at Bayern Munich, Now That He Will Be Working for a New Boss

Jerome Boateng is pleased to remain at Bayern Munich because he feels respected once again at the club under new boss Hansi Flick.

The 31-year-old was in and out of the Bayern XI under former boss Niko Kovac, but in 2020, owing to a yellow-card ban, he missed one Bundesliga contest.

He has been connected for some time to an exit from the Allianz Arena, with Arsenal and Chelsea claiming as possible destinations among the clubs.

He reaffirmed his stay at Bayern to Welt am Sonntag: “I feel strong at the moment, and can expect I’ll live. My emphasis is completely on Bayern and the season under way.”

“I’d always been dreaming about my life before Hansi Flick,” Boateng confessed. “From the outset Hansi Flick assured me he worked with me and valued my values. Now I love football really again.”

Continuing in praise of Flick, he said, “I need the coach and his coaching team to be confident. I had it all over again. I worked well and well right before the period with Hansi Flick, but I wasn’t permitted to practice and never got the opportunity to get into my rhythm. Every player is having a hard time.”
