Ahead of the return of LaLiga Santander, Karim Benzema has revealed the message from Zinedine Zidane to inspire players from Real Madrid to resume football well.
“Zidane’s message is to enjoy and play football,” he told Real Madrid’s official channels. The French striker said his fellow countryman thus urged his team to enjoy their football as games returned.
Los Blancos returned to collective training, and Benzema is glad:
“Today we already played more with the ball than last week’s [training], which was more physical.
“It is better to be with everyone and [train] with the ball because at home it is more difficult to be just touching the ball.
“[At home] it is more gym and fitness work.”
“It is different to play behind closed doors because we always need the fans but I hope that they are all supporting us in front of the television,” Benzema commented about the protocol requiring matches to be played behind closed doors.
Benzema added that he is still happy to get the chance to finish the season with his teammates:
“We really want to get back to the competition and win games.
“It is difficult to go two months without touching the ball.
“Now we are doing well and we are going to continue working together.
“The first [game], against Eibar at home, is very important and we will give everything until the end.
“We know that we have to win the matches because it is important and we’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
