Marc Bartra talked about the decision to give Seville a penalty during their match with Real Betis on Thursday night.
“It’s incredible,” Bartra told Movistar. “I’ve won the position in the air, I jump before and De Jong finds himself with my arms. I think it was a turning point.”
The defender was given a penalty by referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz, who charged the former Barcelona man of committing a foul against Luuk de Jong.
Lucas Ocampos scored the penalty, as Seville hit their local rivals with 2:0 in the opening game of the return of LaLiga Santander.
When asked about the penalty, he said: “It’s amazing- look at his reaction. No one protested anything. Football is a contact sport. I don’t think it’s a penalty and it decides all. At this level, the details decide a lot.”
