According to the latest reports, FC Barcelona have bought Emerson Royal from Real Betis, purchasing his contract in full.
Since 2019, when he left Atlético Mineiro, the Catalans and Real Betis have shared ownership of the fullback’s contract.
Since then, however, he has only played for Betis.
This year, though, Barcelona must decide whether to pay 9 million euros to buy him outright.
And Barcelona have bought Emerson Royal from Real Betis in full, that is, getting complete ownership over the fullback.
The Catalan club has decided to buy Emerson’s contract outright and has informed Real Betis of this choice.
For Barca, it was either this or let a deadline pass, at which point Emerson would’ve belonged completely to Betis.
And because they want his contract to themselves, they should confirm the signing soon. After all, the deadline for both clubs on him is Monday, May 31st.
The Catalans are said to have already informed Betis of their choice, albeit unofficially, at this point.
The two clubs could have agreed to possibly sell him to a third club and split the revenues. However, they did not receive any suitable offers for him and so Barca will now assume full ownership.
However, even if Barcelona sign Emerson before Monday, they might still loan or sell him elsewhere from now on.
Still, it is likely that the Brazilian would remain at Camp Nou until at least pre-season.
