Agüero Will Join Barcelona on Half His City Salary

The financial details of former Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero’s contract with Barcelona have become known. Agüero will join Barcelona on half his City salary.

The Argentine is becoming a free agent after his deal with Man City expires in the summer.

And, as Pep Guardiola revealed, he will sign a deal with the Catalan club after the Champions League final.

Pep’s Big Reveal

Pep Guardiola unveiled football’s worst-kept secret when he revealed that Sergio Aguero will join “the club of my heart,” Barcelona.

Aguero declared his City departure upon season’s end two months ago. Since then, reports cited him to have agreed to a two-year contract with LaLiga giants Barcelona on a free transfer.

Guardiola confirmed this news after City’s 5-0 victory over Everton on Sunday, in which Aguero signed off with a double.

Not only did he break Wayne Rooney’s record with this brace, but he also won the Premier League trophy.

“I’m pretty sure, maybe I’ll reveal a secret, maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart, from Barcelona,” Guardiola told BBC.

“He’s going to play alongside the best player of all time, Lionel Messi. I’m pretty sure he’s going to enjoy it and make my club Barcelona stronger and strongest with him on the pitch.”

Agüero’s New Wages

Now, Diario Sport reports that Agüero will join Barcelona on half his City salary.

For the sake of a move to Barca, the 32-year-old forward has agreed to halve his wages.

At Man City, Agüero received around €12m a year. And now he has accepted half the money as compared to what he received in England.

However, the contract includes various bonuses that will depend, among other things, on the number of matches played. Also trophies won by the player and other indicators will play a role in his payment.
