Ligue 1 Football Results – Rennes Are Now Without a Loss in 7 Games

Stade Rennais blew a despondent Olympique Lyonnais away, securing a memorable 4-1 triumph at Roazhon Park. And as they extend their unbeaten run Ligue 1 football results, Rennes are now without a loss in 7 games.

After a lull in form to start the campaign Lyon had recovered well in recent weeks. Yet, they somehow found themselves behind on the stroke of the half time break.

And eventually, Les Gones fell 4-1 behind their rivals yesterday. They are now placing 7th in the league standings with Rennes ahead of them at 6th place, 3 points ups.

At exactly 45 minutes in the match, Jason Denayer’s ghost-like defending gave Gaetan Laborde freedom in the visitors’ penalty area. And this is when the 27-year-old forward nodded his ninth goal of an already fruitful campaign to make it 1-0.

The half break began right after Laborde’s well-placed header. So, the visitors were left with the need to equalize in the second half.

Instead, however, 6 minutes after restart, Hamari Traore doubled Rennes’ lead. The ‘Rouge et Noir’ captain fired beyond the visitors’ goalie from inside the box.

Having spent an hour snapping at the heels of their opponents, the hosts began to sit back. And this is how they presented Lyon with an opportunity to re-establish themselves.

Their efforts would be left redundant as Genesio’s men added a third and a fourth goals late on.

Adrien Truffert prodded past an on-rushing Lopes, before thundering his second of the match into the top-left corner. And he effectively secured Rennes’ first home win over Lyon since February 2014.

As for Lyon, a late Lucas Paqueta penalty offered little consolation, and they lost this away bout by 4-1.
