Real Madrid, as visitors, started in quite active form with some chances coming from Eden Hazard and Casemiro early on.

Unfortunately for the hosts, meanwhile, two changes forced Valencia’s hands inside 20 minutes. Carlos Soler and Thierry Correia both needed replacements, that is, substitutes, due to injuries.

‘The Bats’ had the best chance to go ahead right at the end of the first half. But Thibaut Courtois denied Gabriel Paulista’s header, keeping the score line at 0-0 going into half time.

After a strong restart when the second half resumed, Real Madrid failed to clear their lines following a cross.

And Hugo Duro took full advantage of this, heading the ball into the bottom corner, giving Valencia the initial lead.

However, Real Madrid almost replied instantly, when Karim Benzema and substitute Rodrygo forced Giorgi Mamardashvili to make two excellent saves.

‘Los Blancos’ then continued to push for an equalizer. And they received the reward for their patience with 4 minutes remaining on the clock with Vinicius Junior’s deflected shot. Because of the deflection, the ball went past a helpless goalie.

Finally, Karim Benzema added his name on the scoreboard just 2 minutes later for a 1-2 final score. In doing so, Benzema, a Real Madrid veteran, scoring his 198th La Liga goal, while also completing a late comeback for Los Blancos.
