Juventus could reportedly cancel Gonzalo Higuain’s contract in the months ahead.
Higuain traveled back to Argentina to be with his ill mother before restrictions were placed on flights due to the coronavirus pandemic. Much like Lautaro Martinez’s standing with Barcelona being compromised due to his unavailability during the coronavirus crisis, Higuain risks losing his spot at Juventus because he is unable to respond to them. Despite trying to make contact with the forward, Tuttosport claims that the 32-year-old has yet to revert back to Juventus.
The report suggests the Serie A leaders are now considering their options, one of which includes ending the club deal with Higuain. Though the player has a contract until the end of next season, it is said that Juventus will be open to offers ahead of the next transfer window.
Much could depend on an Italian Football Association announcement regarding a potential restart for Serie A.
