Kerala scored an emphatic 9-0 win over Andaman and Nicobar in a Santosh Trophy South Zone Group B qualifiers’ match. So, among other updates today about Indian football players, Kerala won a resounding 9-0 in Santosh Trophy over Andaman and Nicobar’s football team in a home fixture at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which is in Kochi, on Friday.
Kerala, who thumped Lakshadweep 5-0 in their opener, will meet Puducherry in their final fixture in Group J (Group B of Santosh Trophy South Zone) on Sunday.
And from this final match, Kerala only need a draw to progress to next month’s main round. After all, Lakshadweep held Puducherry 1-1 in the second match.
Also, Andaman and Nicobar had suffered an 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Puducherry in their Group J opening match.

In this triumphant 9-0 victory, Nijo Gilbert, Jesin and Safnad all scored a brace for Kerala. That’s 6 goals right there!
Gilbert was the one who first broke the scoreless 0-0 deadlock in the 39th minute.
Meanwhile, Jesin scored a brace in injury time and thus, the hosts already led 3-0 at the half-time break.
Then, Kerala’s Thomas made it 4-0 in the 64th minute and Jayaraj also hit on the mark six minutes later. So, the score was 5-0 with 20 minutes remaining.
This was when Safnad (80), Gilbert (81) and Salman (85) slotted in three goals in quick succession of each other.
And then, Safnad completed the 9-0 tally in additional time with his second strike.
