France Become the Second UEFA Nations League Winners Ever

France’s national team beat fellow finalists Spain (the football news) 2-1 to claim the second-ever UEFA Nations League title. After beating Belgium in the semi-final football match, France now defeated Spain at the San Siro stadium final, in Milan. So, last night saw France become the second UEFA Nations league winners ever, as these football results also reveal.

Didier Deschamps’ men made a purposeful start with Paul Pogba creating an early chance. Pogba passed to his teammate Karim Benzema but Cesar Azpilicueta, however, cut out the ball.

In response, Ferran Torres picked out Pablo Sarabia down the other end of the pitch for Spain. But French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris comfortably saved his attempt.

Later on, Les Bleus suffered an injury just before the half time mark. Raphael Varane left the pitch, injured, for his replacement, Dayot Upamecano.

Theo Hernandez came within inches of breaking the deadlock for France at the first half’s end, but hit the crossbar.

Then, just moments later, Sergio Busquets played a long pass forward to Oyarzabal, who brilliantly took the ball, in stride. This is how Oyarzabal fired a fine left-footed strike past Lloris to score his sixth international goal.

It didn’t take long for the Frenchmen to restore the parity, though, as Karim Benzema delivered a stunning curling effort. So, not only did he wipe out Spain’s lead within just two minutes of their clinching it, he also made it two goals in as many games.

Finally, things got even worse for Luis Enrique’s side in the 80th minute. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe smashed a shot into the top corner after going one-one with Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper keeper Unai Simon.

He thus gave the reigning world champions a decisive 2-1 lead and a well-deserved Nations League title.
