Former Liverpool Defender Is Certain of Salah’s Future with the Reds

Even as star striker Mohamed Salah’s availability after the winter break is determined, Stephen Warnock has commented on his contract. The former Liverpool defender is certain of Salah’s future with the Reds, claiming the Egyptian will renew his deal soon.

Meanwhile, in Liverpool’s 2021-22 season, they currently have a stacked calendar and matches to play in three different competitions. Furthermore, the Africa Cup of Nations and, along with it, the subsequent loss of some key players loom large.

Negotiating this spell without Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita will be a massive challenge for manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, Liverpool have already reached an agreement with the Egyptian Football Association. This arrangement will see Salah join up with the team for AFCON after the showdown with Chelsea on January 2.

So, Salah’s last match before he heads to Cameroon for the competition may be when Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge.

“It remains to be seen whether Mane and Keita will be afforded the same luxury by the Senegalese and Guinean footballing authorities respectively,” said David Lynch’s report.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock is completely confident that Mohamed Salah will sign a new contract with the club.

Salah is arguably the finest player on the planet currently and has cemented his status as a legend at Anfield.

However, the Egyptian’s deal is soon to run out – at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

While those close to Liverpool have some concerns about the 29-year-old’s position, Warnock is confident a contract extension will transpire.

“From Liverpool’s point of view, the contract doesn’t just come down to what he’s producing on the pitch, you have to think of what he brings in revenue-wise,” said the former left-back.

“People come to Anfield to watch him, he sells shirts around the world, he’s a global icon. That plays a part and I think Liverpool know there’s that side of it as well. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he will sign a new contract.”

Klopp is also optimistic about retaining Salah (football transfer news).
