Football Transfer News – Inter Have an Eye on Onana

Inter have joined the race to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana. Among Inter-related football transfer news, Inter have an eye on Onana, whose current contract has less than 12 months left.

But the Italian Serie A champions are only one of the many clubs queuing up to sign the Cameroon goalkeeper.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Lyon and Borussia Dortmund have all shown an interest in the Cameroon international in the last few months.

But a doping ban on Onana from the Amsterdam club Ajax has scuppered any possible football transfer thus far.

According to June reports, an appeal has successfully reduced the ban which allows the 25-year-old to play again from November.

So, Ajax are aware they are going to lose the goalkeeper soon because of the immense demand growing around him. Now, the Dutch giants are targeting a proper earning from Onana’s transfer fee for a January sale.

Ajax’s Director of Football, Marc Overmars, spoke about his side’s former No 1: “You can never say never in football [about him renewing his contract], but at the moment I do not see that he extends his contract with us.

“We have been very clear. We have spent a lot of time negotiating to extend his contract, but it did not work.”

Overmars then added: “We then gave him the space to move during the summer and it did not work either. He can leave in January, otherwise he will leave for free next June.”

Arsenal have signed Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for £24m ($33m) after opting against a player subject to a FIFA ban.

Equally, Dortmund and Tottenham have signed alternative options for their goalkeeping woes.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have only added a goalkeeper to their numbers on loan – Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta. Although, Gollini does come to them with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal may yet look to sign Andre Onana again should they push Bernd Leno out in the coming months.

On the other hand, Onana’s agent Albert Botines has spoken publicly about a possible move to Lyon.

Amidst such strong competition, we can only wait and watch if Inter Milan manage to land the goalkeeper.
