Football Today – Milan Is Mad at Ex-goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma

Among related news in football today, Milan is mad at ex-goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, still, for leaving to join Paris Saint-Germain.

This past summer transfer window, AC Milan lost the valuable goal stopper to the money-laden Paris Saint-Germain (football transfer news).

And now, he is returning to Milan’s San Siro with Italy’s national team to fight Spain in Nations League’s semi-finals.

But the Rossonerri’s fans are furious about the disloyal goalkeeper returning to what is theirs, and was once his, home.

Fabio Capello: Donnarumma Was Ungrateful Towards Milan

The Italian national team will face Spain in the UEFA Nations League semi-final at the San Siro stadium tonight.

And former AC Milan head coach Fabio Capello has commented on the situation around Paris Saint-Germain newcomer Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The proclaimed goalkeeper joined the French side after 8 years at the Milan club.

“I hope he asked the fans not to jeer him up and his request will be complied as the player made a significant contribution to the national team’s success at the Euros,” the Italian stated, Milan Live reports.

“But let me tell you one thing: Donnarumma was ungrateful towards Milan, joining PSG,” he went on, however.

“For everything the club had done for him and his family when he was a child, he should have behaved differently.”

Milan Fans: Donnarumma Will Never Be Welcome

On his return to San Siro for Italy’s match against Spain, Gianluigi Donnarumma begged Milan fans to not abuse him.

But some Milan supporters have already put up a banner threatening Donnarumma that he will “never be welcome here again.”

Over the summer, the goalkeeper departed his boyhood club, AC Milan, to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

This move enraged fans – they were especially hurt when he refused to sign a new deal at figures similar to the ones he eventually accepted in Paris.

Donnarumma requested Milan fans not to jeer him as he returned to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow. The Italian sent out this message ahead of the Nations League semi-final against Spain.

However, a banner bearing the signatures of Milan ultras appeared across a bridge this evening. The banner’s words made it clear that there would be no hope for Donnarumma of reconciliation with Milan.

“Donnarumma, piece of ****,” read the banner. “You will never be welcome in Milano again.”

This tactic not entirely new. During prior contract renegotiation talks that went down to the wire, Milan fans screamed obscenities at him. This was when he was playing for the Italy Under-21 team, and they even waved money at him.
