Upon finishing his football transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, after 21 years with Barcelona, Lionel Messi reveals his reasons behind it. Speaking in an introductory press conference making history in football today, Messi wants to win Champions League with PSG now.
This is not a farfetched vision, to be candid. One only has to look at PSG’s line-up after this summer transfer window to anticipate how much they’ll dominate on the European stage.
Indeed, former PSG and Barcelona midfielder Ronaldinho’s comments on Lionel Messi’s move to Paris also hinted toward the same objective.
“It was a great joy for me to play for both clubs and now seeing my friend wearing this shirt. I wish you many, many moments of joy, Leo,” the Brazilian wrote via Twitter.
“I’m also very happy with my partner Sergio [Ramos] in the team and a super cast.”
“I can smell the Champions,” Ronaldinho confidently commented.
Football Today – Messi Wants to Win Champions League with PSG
Lionel Messi has been officially presented as a Paris Saint-Germain player earlier today.
And Messi told the press that wanting to win the Champions League was a driving motivation, as per Sky Sports.
A reporter asked Messi: “Is PSG ready to win the Champions League?”
And Messi, in turn, replied: “I think the team are ready to win. Especially with new transfers. They came close to victory last year. I came here to help and I’ll do my best.”
“My goal and my dream is to win the Champions League once more and I think that Paris is the best place to have a chance to win it again.
RMC Sport have quoted Lionel Messi’s thoughts and expectations for the new PSG era: “I am very grateful to the fans, this is just crazy. Thank you. We’ll have plenty of time to meet and talk. I hope there’s a great season ahead.”
“It’s hard to win the Champions League,” the Argentine superstar went on. “You need a really strong team. Luck is also essential. Sometimes the best team unable to win the trophy. We [PSG] want to win the Champions League.”
