Football Today – Lewandowski Won the 2021 Golden Shoe

Bayern Munich and Poland international forward Robert Lewandowski has been awarded a Golden Shoe for the 2020-21 season. So, among other news in football today, Lewandowski won the 2021 Golden Shoe, and rightly so, to Germany’s immense pride.

Robert Lewandowski has, in the last, 2020-21, season, scored as many as 41 goals across just 29 German Bundesliga appearances.

With this tally, the Pole outscored the likes of Lionel Messi who scored 30 goals and Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring 29.

The 33-year-old actually, fantastically, averaged one and a half goals per 90 minutes over the Bayern’s 9th-successive-title winning season.

Furthermore, last season, he only failed to score even once in just 4 of his 29 games for Bayern Munich.

Germany national team head coach Hansi Flick took charge over the club between 2019 and 2021. Though he is no longer Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann is (football transfer), he was the coach last year.

And Flick, now working as the German national team head coach, has congratulated Lewandowski on winning this award – Golden Shoe.

“I worked with you for two years and was able to experience your enthusiasm and determination to score goals. Thank you, congratulations and good luck for the future,” he said, as Bayern Munich & Germany have both reported.
