Barcelona have revealed what number will their newest football transfer, Dani Alves, wear during his second stay at the club. They have declared, among other Barca news in football today, Dani Alves will wear the number eight shirt at Barcelona.
The Brazilian has only recently returned to the club, becoming the Xavi (as Barcelona’s head coach) era’s first signing.
Alves made 391 appearances for the Catalan club during his first spell between 2008 and 2016.
And during that period, he scored 21 goals and assisted 101 times. This made him one of the finest right-backs to ever put on a pair of football boots.
However, later, in the summer of 2016, he moved to Juventus before joining Paris Saint-Germain the following year.
Then, after spending two years in France, in 2019, he returned to Brazil to join his boyhood club, Sao Paulo.
And they’re his most recent club, though he left in September after a financial disagreement led to a contract cancellation.
Alves is now 38 years old. Yet, he’s keen to show that he still has what it takes to compete among the best of the best.
In fact, he is aiming to earn a spot in Tite’s Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Brazilian did, after all, lead his country to a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games just last summer.
However, it will now be a tall order to match his peak performance.
Since the 1998/99 season, Squawka has occupied slots one through four in the list of La Liga defenders with the most assists, and since the 2006/7 season, secured the top two places in the same list of defenders across Europe’s top five divisions.
