Barcelona forward, and sometimes winger, Martin Braithwaite is demanding a pay raise, that too, immediately. In fact, among other news coming out of Barcelona in football today, Braithwaite has presented Barcelona with an ultimatum.
Barcelona kicked off the post-Lionel Messi era with back-to-back victories, winning their first football match after his exit, a friendly.
Indeed, most recently, they defeated Real Sociedad 4-2 at Camp Nou on Sunday evening in their debut La Liga fixture.
Gerard Pique scored the opening goal in the 19th minute, and Memphis Depay, whose wages Barcelona recently cut, assisted him.
Martin Braithwaite then scored a brace to put the Blaugrana in command, only for La Real to rally in the final ten minutes with goals from Julen Lobete Cienfuegos and Mikel Oyarzabal.
Sergi Roberto appeared at the end to give Barca a conclusive victory and to deny Real Soceidad any possible comeback.
After this successful match, Braithwaite was named man-of-the-match for his efforts, his double, which was significant for him personally.
“Some people like to talk,” Braithwaite tweeted on Monday morning. “I do my talking on the pitch.”
Football Today – Braithwaite Has Presented Barcelona with an Ultimatum
Martin Braithwaite scored 2 goals and provided an assist in La Liga opener against Real Sociedad (4-2) on Sunday.
Braithwaite has scored ten goals and contributed five assists in 54 appearances since joining Barcelona at the beginning of 2020.
The Dane also competed at Euro 2020 for his country Denmark as they made it to the semi-final.
But the Danish striker has been close to many rumours in the transfer market all summer.
Indeed, the club has considered him to be a saleable asset this summer transfer window, a time of financial need.
He even lost his number nine jersey to Memphis and instead, he is now wearing a number twelve shirt.
And Braithwaite is not happy with Barcelona Football Club’s attitude. The Dane’s convinced, and rightly so, after all, that the club are pushing for his departure.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Braithwaite wants a pay rise, now that he is a regular player among Barcelona’s starting eleven.
If Blaugrana do not accept the terms of his ultimatum, the striker will ask to terminate his contract.
