Lucas Vazquez is a home-grown Real Madrid talent, who was due to become a free agent this summer transfer window. However, in some refreshing football news today, Vazquez has a new Real Madrid contract, with a deal lasting till 2024.
The Blancos have thus retained the services of a versatile performer, who has evolved his career at Santiago Bernabeu.
Starting his playing career at Real Madrid, he made his premier first-team appearance for Los Blancos in 2015.
After playing in the 2020-21 campaign with Real though, Vazquez was due to see his previous deal expire this summer.
However, Real have given Vazquez a new contract through to 2024, not wanting him slipping into the free agent pool.
After all, the versatile 29-year-old had a lot of exit talk generating around him.
Despite links with Man Utd and Chelsea, however, Vazquez himself reaffirmed his allegiance (before extension) to Real Madrid in April.
Now, amongst other football news today, Vazquez has a new Real Madrid contract at long last.
Vazquez will thus be sticking around in the Spanish capital and prolonging his association with La Liga giants.
The Blancos have said in a statement on the club’s official website: “Real Madrid C. F. and Lucas Vazquez have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract and he will remain at the club for the next three seasons, until 30 June 2024.”
As shown in the feature picture to the announcement, the attacker signed the contract at Real Madrid City alongside club president Florentino Pérez.
