After reviewing Italy’s squad for Euro 2020, it’s time for another Euro 2020 Group A team preview – Wales.
Wales is in fantastic form heading into Euro 2020, because they have lost only two of their last fifteen matches.
Moreover, Robert Page is a good manager who has worked with several of the younger players for several years.
It’s already evident that his experience and knowledge have contributed to the squad’s strong unity and pleasant mood.
However, there are some questions about Ben Davies and Joe Allen’s fitness. In football news today, Liverpool may sell Celtic target Davies soon.
Nonetheless, the rest of the squad is otherwise fully fit and ready to replicate their Euro 2016 win.
The group has a lot of confidence in their ability to go deep into the tournament, like they did five years ago.
Euro 2020 Group A Team Preview – Wales
So, realistically, Wales will want to progress through Group A without getting carried away.
In a tough group, the first game will be crucial, but Wales may get to beat Switzerland as a start. And this will set the team up to progress and anything can happen once they reach the knockout stages.
Turkey and Italy complete this difficult Group A, but Wales can still possibly qualify if they finish third.
Therefore, a win in the first match would go a long way toward clinching qualification. They definitely want to qualify out of the group stage.
However, we believe even making it to the knockout stages would be a fantastic tournament for Wales.
Going any further would be punching above their weight, because, in terms of size, they are one of the smaller countries.
Many of the teams they face have far larger pools of players from whom to choose, after all. That advantage will always put everyone else at a disadvantage.
