Real Madrid’s chief of institutional relations Emilio Butragueo believes Karim Benzema is already a club hero at Santiago Bernabeu.
After joining from Lyon in 2009, Karim Benzema has been with Los Blancos for nearly a decade.
Since then, he has 202 La Liga goals in 394 games, and earned three league titles. Along the road, he has also won four Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, as well as a slew of other trophies.
Then, in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema only progressed further. He is now 33 and in the finest scoring form of his career.
He scored 30 goals in all competitions last season, his finest season to date. And, as for this season, he has already scored 14 goals across the Spanish domestic and international stages.
So, following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, Benzema has emerged as Real Madrid’s undisputed superstar. And it seems he is relishing the opportunity, with the football news of a Ballon d’Or nomination only proving this.
Emilio Butragueo Believes Karim Benzema Is Already a Club Hero
A Real Madrid director and former Los Blancos striker, Emilio Butragueo, for one, has hailed Karim Benzema. He believes Benzema is already a club legend for what he has accomplished during his time at the club.
He told Diario AS: “Without doubt, it is a delight to see him play. The biggest players are those that improve the game.
“You give the ball to Benzema and the game improves. He has enormous resources and enormous talent to play inside the area.”
Butragueo continued: “His performances are exceptional. In recent years, he has assumed a big responsibility and has responded to expectations.
“He is already a legend of Real Madrid and I hope he will be with us for many more years.”
