Defenders of the English Football League Cup title (the football news), Manchester City advanced to the Round of 16. They won a convincing 6-1 victory against third division side Wycombe Wanderers. So, in one of several of yesterday’s EFL Cup football results, Manchester City scored six goals.
Liverpool, who defeated Norwich City 0-3 on the road, also thus reached the round of 16.
Takumi Minamino (4, 80) and Divock Origi (51) were the ones who scored for the Reds.
Norwich then levelled the score after 42 minutes to make it 1 – 1. Christos Tzolis struck home after a fine midfield combination through the center, which left him completely unmarked.
However, Brentford, who outclassed quarter-league Oldham Athletic with 7-0, achieved the most convincing victory with seven goals and clean sheets.
The hero of the match was the four-time scorer Marcus Forss (3-11 m, 16, 44, 60).
Yoane Wissa (38, 87) and Raphael Diarra (43-ag) also scored goals, with the former scoring a brace.
Meanwhile, Leeds United beat Fulham 6-5 with a better penalty shootout after the match ended on a scoreless draw.
Queens Park Rangers also beat Everton on penalties, with a 8-7 tally, after the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
QPR led 1-0 first and then 2-1, but the guests managed to equalize both times. However, in the end, it was not enough for them.
Charlie Austin (18, 34) scored both goals for the London team. Lucas Digne (30) and Andros Townsend (47) scored for Everton. This led to a penalty shootout to break the 2-2 deadlock.
The winner was decided in the eighth penalty round, when Jimmy Dunne scored for the hosts, but Tom Davies missed.
Besides Brentford’s Marcus Forss, Jay Rodriguez (50, 60, 62, 77) also scored four goals, in Burnley’s 4-1 win over Rochdale.

But City got serious by the end of the half and turned the score around. Kevin De Bruyne (29), Riyad Mahrez (43) and Philip Foden (45 + 1) all scored goals.
In the continuation of the match into the second half, the English champion scored three more goals.
And the scorers now were Ferran Torres (71), Mahrez (82), and Cole Palmer (88).
