Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (21) wants to extend his contract with AC Milan but is not ready to agree to a pay cut, Italian media reported.
One of the best goalkeepers in Europe, he wants to stay in Milan because he dropped out at his youth school. In the summer of 2017, he signed a contract with Milan under which he has an annual salary of six million euros and has no intention of agreeing to a smaller amount.
However, Milan’s owners, American investment firm Elliott Management, want to introduce a “salary cap” and Donnarumma’s salary would then not fit into their plan.
Donnarumma’s contract with Milan expires in June next year, and many European greats such as Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain want to see him in their ranks.
