Champions League Football Results: The Hosts Won All the Matches

All three hosts achieved victories in the first playoff games, which took place on Wednesday, for the Champions League. In other words, in news of yesterday’s Champions League football results, the hosts won all the matches, three in total.

Firstly, Swedish Malmo defeated Bulgarian Ludogorets 2-0. Serbian midfielder Veljko Brimancevic was the first to score in the 26th minute. Then, Norwegian striker Jo Inge Berget gave the Swedes a two-goal advantage in the 61st minute.

Elsewhere, the Young Boys defeated the Hungarian team, Ferencvaros, 3-2 in Bern. They triumphed even though they had fewer players from the 25th minute onward, due to the exclusion of Hefti then.

The guests took the lead through Boli in the 14th minute, but already in the 16th minute, Elia had equalized.

The Hungarians received an award of a penalty kick, when it was 1-1, but Myrto Uzuni failed to realize it.

Sierro scored 2-1 in the 40th minute and Garcia 3-1 in the 65th minute. The final 3-2 tally arrived when Franck Boli scored his second goal, but he couldn’t beat the Young Boys singlehandedly.

Finally, for the Champions League, Benfica defeated PSV 2-1 in Lisbon. Rafa Silva gave the home team the lead 10 minutes into the match which Weigl doubled in the 40th minute.

So, Benfica’s lead was a solid 2-0 until 50 minutes into the match, that is, five minutes into the second half.

Them Gakpo scored in the 51st minute for PSV.

This 2-1 thus leaves PSV with good prospects in the return leg of these Champions League playoffs.
