Full-backs Both Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker struck the back of the net. The former did so on the half-hour mark with a clinical finish off a feed from Phil Foden.
Then, just before half-time, Riyad Mahrez calmly tucked away a penalty to give City a 0-3 away lead.
And shortly after the restart, Walker got himself involved in the action. He hammered into the bottom-left corner after Kevin De Bruyne – playing in his homeland – set him up.
Also, Palmer scored just three minutes after coming off the bench, taking a beautiful touch and firing a left-footed shot past Simon Mignolet from well inside the box.
Later, in the 81st minute, Club Brugge’s captain Hans Vanaken scored a single late consolation goal.
But City’s controlled performance reached its crescendo after Mahrez’s second goal of the night brought them up 1-5.
