At the same time, Thomas Muller celebrated his 400th Bundesliga appearance with a goal and an assist in the win.
“I am very satisfied with the way we played,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann after the 4-0 home match. “It was a bit tougher in the first half when Wolfsburg were a bit more disciplined. We started well but then lost some possession.
“But we defended well and our second half was impressive with the way we were pressing extremely high. The result was deserved,” he added.
The Bundesliga will now break for three weeks and then resume on January 7, 2022.
Bundesliga Football Results – Bayern Munich Destroyed Wolfsburg 4-0
Muller was the one who opened Bayern Munich’s account last night, tapping in on a rebound in the seventh minute. Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels had palmed a Serge Gnabry shot that came into his path, but couldn’t stop Muller’s strike.
Muller then also assisted Dayot Upamecano, who headed in their second goal in the 57th minute, with a clever chip.
And just two minutes later, Leroy Sane curled a superb shot into the top far corner to decide the game.
Finally, though, despite this 3-0 advantage, Bayern Munich scored yet another goal via Robert Lewandowski to make it 4-0. Lewandowski volleyed the ball in off the rout with three minutes to go for the death time. It was his record-breaking 43rd goal in 2021.
