Besides currently switching their coaches, Barcelona has suffered an injury setback before facing Alaves, in a La Liga football match.
Ahead of this domestic Spanish fixture on Sunday, Barcelona confirmed that the club has an injury crisis at Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana have now lost consecutive games, the most recent one, surprisingly, to Rayo Vallecano. Previously, they lost an El Clasico to Real Madrid (football results), which resulted in Ronald Koeman’s dismissal (football transfer news).
Thus, Barca is now all the way down in ninth place in La Liga and without a manager. For the time being, B team head Sergi Barjuan is in charge.
And with Barjuan, they face an Alaves side that has been improving recently. Deportivo Alaves having climbed out of the relegation zone and then went on to secure victories against Elche and Cadiz.
Barcelona Have Suffered an Injury Setback before Facing Alaves
Only days before the game, Barcelona received another injury blow in the form of their great 18-year-old attacker Ansu Fati.
Fati suffered an injury during El Clásico and was unable to make the mid-week trip to Vallecas (the football news).
Later reports revealed that the 18-year-old had injured his right knee, which wasn’t the one on which he had surgery.
And he has yet to return to group training ahead of this weekend’s match against Alaves, which he will miss.
Fati is most likely to return for Barcelona’s crucial Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv next week, though.
