Africa Cup of Nations Football Results – Cameroon Won a Thumping 4-1

Thursday night hosts Cameroon put one foot in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations in Group A. Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko Ekambi scored twice each for this year’s AFCON host country Cameroon to defeat Ethiopia. So, among other recent Africa Cup of Nations football results, Cameroon won a thumping 4-1 victory over Ethiopia last night.

Now, after this successful football match, Group A leaders Cameroon will meet the Cape Verdeans in their last pool match on Monday.

And going into that next match, the hosts having sounded a clear warning as to their intentions at the tournament. They are here to win, says their confident 4-1 win over Ethiopia yesterday, in front of their passionate home fans.

Now, the home side have a maximum six points from two matches and they can confirm their qualification soon enough. They will go ahead to play for the knockout stages confirmed if Burkina Faso fail to beat Cape Verde. The latter two teams will face off in Thursday’s Group A game at the same venue, the Stade d’Olembé.

Ethiopia actually took a surprise early lead through Dawa Hottesa, to come up 0-1 against the hosts.

But for the second successive game, Cameroon roared back from behind to then come ahead. Cameroon captain Aboubakar took his tally for the tournament to an impressive four goals by scoring twice in this match. And Toko-Ekambi also bagged a brace for Cameroon to come back up by 4-1.
