After the first round of medical tests, Fiorentina has announced they have found six new COVID-19 cases. This after players Patrick Cutrone, German Pezzella and Dusan Vlahovic tested positive last month. Several staff members were also ill and some had to be hospitalized.
Before returning to training, all Series A clubs perform swab tests to ensure that they are all clear of coronavirus before setting foot in the facilities.
According Italian media, three of the newly positive people are players and three are staff. Fiorentina announced with a statement released this evening that they have “identified three athletes and three staff members who are positive for COVID-19.”
These individuals have been isolated and the rest of the squad is due to begin training tomorrow.
It is a huge blow to the Viola, who had already tackled positive coronavirus testing last month. Now, six players and many more staff members are essentially detained, affecting the club’s training plans.
Torino also announced yesterday that they had found one player positive for COVID-19 during tests.
