FC Lorient have snapped up central defender Montassar Talbi from Rubin Kazan. The Tunisian international joins on a five year deal.
Les Merlus stated: “FC Lorient is pleased to announce today the arrival of Montassar Talbi (24), central defender from Rubin Kazan. The Tunisian international (20 caps) is signing up for the next five seasons with Les Merlus.
“It was at Espérance Tunis that Montassar Talbi took his first steps into the professional world. He played 33 matches there, and twice won the title of Tunisian champion (in 2017 and 2018). He then discovered the Turkish championship with the Rizespor club (57 matches, 2 goals) before joining Rubin Kazan last season (27 matches).
“On the selection side, the central defender who was captain of the Tunisian U23 team. He honored his first selection with the A’s in October 2020. He has since taken part in the various competitions of the Carthage eagles: qualification for the World Cup, Arab Cup of FIFA (finalist), African Cup (quarter-finalist) and is a serious candidate to be part of the selection for the World Cup in Qatar this winter.”
The Russian outfit confirmed the transfer as well. They stated, “Football clubs ‘Rubin’ and ‘Lorient’ have reached an agreement. On the transfer to the French club defender Montassart Talbi. This is a full-fledged transfer of a 24-year-old football player.
“Montassard Talbi joined Rubin in August 2021 and played 27 matches for our team.”
