FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have agreed terms for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski. The Catalan club announced: “FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed.
The Polish striker added: “I am very happy to be here. It was very easy to decide to come to Barça.”
The Polish international added that “Barça is back. I think I can help to put the team back at the top of European football.”
“These have been long days” he continued the two-time Golden Shoe winner. “I hope we get off to a winning start- I like winning trophies and this is a new chapter for me, with new challenges.”
“This was an opportunity for me privately. I have always wanted to play in LaLiga and for a big team.”
“I’ve already been speaking to Xavi and I know about his ideas. He was a great player and has a great future ahead of him as a coach.
The Bavarian club confirmed the same. “It’s good for both sides that we have clarity. Robert has earned our appreciation, he has won everything with us. We are incredibly grateful to him,” said club president Herbert Hainer in an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk during the Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation on Saturday.
CEO Oliver Kahn said: “We have agreed to release Robert Lewandowski. We have a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona, the contract is still pending. We know very well what we have to thank Robert for, but great players have also left FC Bayern in the past, and even after that, Bayern’s world did not fall apart. On the contrary, it often continued with even more success.”
