Clermont Foot 63 have signed Polish international Mateusz Wieteska from Legia Warsaw. Les Lanciers announced: “Clermont Foot 63 and Legia Warsaw have reached an agreement for the transfer of Polish international Mateusz Wieteska.
“The 25-year-old central defender signed up for 4 seasons until 2026.
“With Mateusz Wieteska, the Clermont Foot 63 registers a reinforcement of weight.”
The club added: “Captain of Legia Warsaw, triple champion of Poland (2017, 2020, 2021), Mateusz has just had his first selection with the national team last June against Belgium, as part of the League of Nations. He had so far been international in all the youth selections U17, U18, U19, U20 and Espoirs.
“Renowned for his defensive rigor and his heading game, he has played 144 games in the Polish first division, for 13 goals and 4 assists. He even played Legia’s first two matches of the 2022-2023 season.
“With his training club Legia Warsaw, he also took part in several European adventures, totaling 13 Champions League matches (12 in the qualifying phase, 1 in the group stage against Borussia Dortmund) and 15 Europa League matches (9 matches, 1 goal in the qualifying phase, and 6 games in the group stage last season against Naples, Leicester and Spartak Moscow).
