Chennaiyin FC have signed defenders Fallou Diagne and Vafa Hakhamaneshi. The foreign duo is expected to be the starting centre-backs for the South Indian club this season.
Fallou Diagne’s announcement: “Chennaiyin FC can confirm the signing of Senegalese defender Fallou Diagne ahead of the upcoming season.”
Speaking on the first new foreign signing for the club this season, Chennaiyin co-owner, Vita Dani said: “We are thrilled to welcome Fallou Diagne as our first new foreign signing ahead of the upcoming season. It’s always good to bring in a player that the coach has worked with before. The experience he brings, having played in the German and French first tier leagues, will be invaluable to our young squad.”
Ahead of his first stint in India, Diagne said, “I am excited because this is my first time in India. I am very happy to join Chennaiyin. And I hope to bring something to the team so that together we win more titles.”
Vafa Hakhamaneshi’s announcement: “Chennaiyin are delighted to announce the signing of Vafa Hakhamaneshi. The Iranian defender joins as the club’s Asian signing ahead of the upcoming season.”
“Vafa Hakhamaneshi is a towering addition to our squad. Having played in the Iranian first tier league and the AFC Champions League, he will be aware of the challenges that lie ahead of us,” said Chennaiyin co-owner, Vita Dani.
“I feel proud to join the team to represent Chennai. I will fight with all my might for the pride of the city. And the people,” Hakhamaneshi said after joining the Marina Machans.
