Barcelona has reported to the Catalan police criminal activity in relation to the vote of no confidence for club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The Catalan media outlet claims to have access to the letter sent to the police offices by the club.
The complaint was submitted to the head of the Barcelona Judicial Police Unit, Daniel Baena.
For the motion against club president Bartomeu, 20,687 votes were collected, passing the threshold of 16,250 signatures.
Now, though, some of those signatures are believed to be fraudulent, with 18,090 claimed to be valid.
Indeed, La Vanguardia is reporting that up to 300 ballots have flagged criminal conduct that the club believed was adequate to inform the competent authorities.
Some parts of the ballots were said to have similar handwriting and hallmarks that raised the club’s alarm.
The club warns that, away from the channels of democratic participation recognized in the statutes, everything would appear to point to a perfectly planned and organized campaign to harm the board and its president by illegal means.
