Burnley legend Ben Mee joins Brentford on a free transfer. The defender has signed a two year deal with the Londoners.
The Bees announced: “We have signed experienced central defender Ben Mee on a free transfer. The 32-year-old left Burnley after more than a decade at the end of last season.
“He completed a medical with us on Thursday 21 July, and signed a two-year contract.
“Ben started his career at Manchester City but has played the majority of his games at Burnley. He captained the Lancashire side for their past three seasons in the top flight and has played more than 200 Premier League games. He also has England youth international honours.”
Brentford Head Coach, Thomas Frank, said about the Burnley legend Ben Mee: “I am very happy that we have signed Ben. He will add a lot of quality and experience to the squad. He had six good years for Burnley in the Premier League. I really love his defensive mindset; he knows how to defend the box, he knows how to block a shot and he knows how to win duels.
“He will bring leadership and communication to the team, which is very attractive. He has a very good left foot and will be very good for us on set-pieces in both boxes. I am looking forward to adding him to the squad.”
